questions on engine swap!!!!!!!!

hi, i have a 2000 f-150 w/ 4.2 and a 5 speed trans. i like the 4.2 its fine for the little work i do with the truck but i want more horses to play with. so i was wondering if you can put a mustang 5.0 in it, if i can or if it is possible please include the items i need for the swap, and could i still use my trans or would i have to swap that also.

some body plz give me some info on this it would be very cool to have a 5.0 in my truck.

thanks mike

Why don't you go for a 5.4...being that it came in the F-150.

And depending on where you live, and your emissions testing, it may have to be a newer engine than vehicle for you to even be allowed to do it.

I think a 5.0 would be a deadly swap!

if nothing else then go with a 4.6l... its a way better motor for an f-150 than the 5.0. A 5.4 would be the better option. But both are better than a 5.0. And the spark plug thing isnt as much as an issue as people make it out. I know tons of guys that drive this style of truck and not one has had it happen yet.

I dont know if the 4.6 is a better motor then a 5.0. The 5.0's were a deadly engine. Tons of cheap parts to boost the power of them too.

I guess it depends on how much time and what the local laws will allow for you to decide what you want to do.

Keep in mind that your tranny won't necessarily last with either setup, let alone bolt up to a 4.6. M5ODs were downrated by Ford in 4.2s and 4.6s, never even offered with a 5.4.
You have to do a bunch of custom work to get a 5.0 to fit and work... trade-off is the aftermarket support. The 4.6 requires a donor truck, or at least all the necessary vitals, of the same vintage.
