I've been waiting since January to buy a certain 1979 F-250 Ranger XLT. It is finally mine and what a deal it was. I purchased it for only $500. I have a few things to do to it because it's been sitting for a couple of years. However, it will be nothing compared to the joy that I'll get from driving it.
Can you please take a close & side shot of the radiator & shroud and put in your album?
A guy on here needs to see how thick the rad and the shroud are. I haven't had the energy to photo mine for him.
If you see a stamping number on that rad you can post that as well.
The picture should show from the side > The 4 core Rad<> The Narrow Shroud <> The short distance to the Fan <> short distance to the engine.
What some users need to see is the narrow dimensions for the Rad to shroud <> shroud to engine <> so they will stop mentioning to 460-4 core rad people to buy the one they have a for a 400 2-or 3 core w or w/o AC.
Hey Honorablekingcab that looks like a real nice truck and a great deal.Welcome to the supercab family.I don't know if you've ever owned one,but your going to love it.
Nice looking Supercab.Im sure you will love it.Dang I miss the one I had.The one I have had the bench seat in the back. But I junked it out and sold a few parts off it and scraped the rest. That was before I knew anything about this group.Glad I now about it know.
I was under my new beast yesterday installing a fuel pump. I noticed true duals to 30" glass packs. I new she was loud when we were trying to prime the pump before the install. Now, I KNOW she'll be loud. This is definitely a truck that would be difficult to sneak out of the neighborhood at 7 am on Saturday morning. But, "OH THE JOY" when she lights off and rumbles down the road.
By the way, that fuel pump is a pain to install. You need five hands and there's only room for one. It's the most difficult pump I've installed to date.

What was the problem? Stuff in the way or would it not line up? If it wasn't lining up, you might have been working against the high point on the cam eccentric. Bump the engine over 1 turn and it should drop right in.
It wasn't lining up correctly and a father-in-law in the way. I can work with a fuel pump to get it in. I can't work with a father-in-law in the way while I'm doing it.
We did try to bump it over, but never got it to a point to line up. We are friends with a Ford mechanic and he should have a tip or two for me when I chat with him tonight.
