I own a 97 F250 light Duty 4 wheel drive and according to my Owners manual,it is equipped with a 25 gallon fuel tank. Can anyone tell me about how much fuel is left in the tank when the low fuel light comes on in the dash?

 

I have an 02 F150 supercrew with a 24 gallon tank. When the "low fuel" light comes on, I can usually pump in about 21 gallons until the lever goes "pop". So that means there's still 3 gallons or about 50 miles left in the tank. I remember my friend with an expedition was reporting the same thing.

Can someone verify any of this? Google doesn't seem to know anything either

 

That sounds about right. I must advise that contantly running it that low is hard on the fuel pump. They rely on the fuel surrounding them to keep them cool. When they get low, the fuel level drops below the top of the pump and it can get hot.
