1976 Frankenstein Truck

I just inherited a 1976 F250 and was told that it had a 390. Upon inspection I found that it has "352" forged on the block. The exhaust valve cover has some manufacturing specs that says it was manufactured in June of 1973.

What gives? A 1976 truck with a 1973 engine that (according to the information I've been able to find) wasn't put in Ford trucks after 1968!

What kind of Frankenstein is this thing? Anyone got any hints?

All those 352's,60's,390's have the numbers 352 in them.
No big deal.

You're reading and believing the wrong things.

You need to post the more pertinent casting numbers and then measure the stroke to verify.

Get me the D3TE -9425-A type numbers off the Intake ,heads, block

Also the casting numbers that look like this ie: *6C18*

EDIT: Also, what is the 4th digit of the VIN#

It's either a 360 or a 390 i have a 76 Hiboy the original engine was a 360 but when i bought it it had a 390 in it same engine just longer stroke. Most 360's came with just a 2barrel carb from the factory my 390 was a 4 barrel.
