first oil change - used truck

Go easy on me...first post...first American car. Before my 1,500 mile family camping trip over the next week I a due for my first oil change. I can't do it myself because I am not unpacked et cetera. Trust me I would prefer to.... Anyway, I am going to be going to a "Jiffy Lube" or something like that for the first time ever. Normally the VW would take 15/20 minutes...depending upon how long I looked at the oil. What do I need to do...just an oil change right? Anything to watch out for...any place that is the best.... I know this is pretty open ended but I like this truck and want it to last for several years. My next oil change will be in the garage when my wife get the boxes out (hopefully).

2002, F150, 5.4, Supercab, 4wd, 60,000 miles, K&N, everything OEM, looks in okay shape

It is totally do-able and you don't even have to jack it up like VW, only concern is changing the filter, it can get a little tight in there with your front diff in the way but just take your time with it. As for oil stick with the 5w20 wether it's dino or synthetic, it is spec'd for these motors and have shown great results even in extreme heat while towing, I generally look for the cheapest at Walmart. The filter should be a Motorcraft fl-820s, fairly cheap and easy to find, some people here have experienced start-up noise using the orange one(Fram) so stay away from them...good luck.

If you do it yourself, turning your wheels all the way to the left (driver's side) gives you a little more room, and a strap type filter wrench or the socket type are easier to use. If you just got this truck and are not sure of the service history, I would do a fuel filter change, air filter, and possibly a tranny fluid flush and coolant flush.
