i had a similar problem when i rolled my windows up and down and it turned out to be a bad ground under the dash. the truck had some aux. lighting and i belive one of the grounds was too small or something but the problem was a ground.

It sounds like somewhere around the behind the radio/ip cluster.

I have heard this sound before also. I think that Kwik stated that it was a relay to one of the solonoids, but I cannot remember.

HEY Kwik, answer this one. My problem went way and I have not found it yet.

It seems like i can make it stop by turning my heater position from off to ac.Then if i turn it back to off it starts. I know that sounds silly but it seems to be very consistent when it actually does act up.This is with the ignition switch off.The noise is definatly coming from right behind that little pocket in the dash right to the right of the column and at the bottom of the dash.

It does act up when the ignition switch is off,and you turn the ac/defrost switch from off to ac or anything but off.The weird part is the blower still runs with the key off on vent position but not on ac.Also the airbag deactivation light will sometimes come on when this is acting up.I found the relay that is making the noise, though im not sure what it goes to,Its in a cluster of three relays to the left and below the heater switch. There are two small ones one of which clicks when you turn off the headlight switch and the other is the one making the issue. Its larger size and blue part # f65b-13350-aa tbb89.Im at my brother in laws right now so i dont have a wiring diagram.Does anyone know what this controls? The cluster had a little cap over it with a vent.thanks for any input.

If I remember right, the heater control switch (Line from heater a/c box to control **** is "HOT" at all times. (One of Ford's Better Ideas). It is on a fusable link and it runs from the control **** to a relay that is controlled by the key. It sounds like maybe that relay is in a Malfunction Mode. The only access to it is to remove the radio (easier). Stop by Autozone. They have the tools to remove the radio for about $4.00. You can find the relay by activating it and using your hand. I would check this out fast. A hot relay can cause a fire.

Well guys it was the flasher that was clicking and making everything go nuts.I wouldnt have believed it but i cant get it to act up with the new flasher.I cant wait to get to the shop and look at a diagram so i can see if and where this all interacts.Maybe the problem is still there and it just isnt doing it now, although with the old flaher i could get it to act up almost all the time.ill keep ya posted. Thanks for all the input.

Flasher: For the emergency or turn signals? I though the flasher was in the main fuse panel.

Mine only acts up when it is extremely cold. Guess I will have to wait for winter again to see if I can find it.
