How rare is my dads 70 flareside?
My dad has a origional 1970 F250 4-wheel drive custom. This truck has the 360 engine and four speed manual on the floor. It origionally had an 8 foot long box step side. Unfourtnatly Dad put a flat bed on it years ago and sold the stepside box. Is this a rare truck I have never seen one like it? Also where would a guy go about finding an 8 foot stepside if he wanted to convert it back to origional?

Don't know how RARE it is, but these are great trucks. Keep it and run it as long as the engine and drivetrain are sound...especially the 4X4, have that checked professionally. Just about any step-side bed will go on that truck...probably up through about '86 or '87. You can find these in the bone yards, but make sure they are solid or you aren't getting much of a deal. If you want the truck to look 100% original, the quest may be harder, ie. having the bed exactly match the front styling. But keep looking, you might find just what you want/need. Either way, it's worth keeping and running. Vehicle values are hard to figure...general rule is its worth whatever someone in your market is willing to pay for it, whether it is $10 or $10,000.
