I posted a thread stating problems with the fuel pump--as we drive along we lose total power without warning--result no power steering and breaks--the ford dealer can't find the problem--wants to know if its going up hill or down--seems that the problems occurs at any rpm and on flat and up/down hill conditions--we live in the rocky mountains and its kinda important to be able to steer and stop on a mountain pass--anyone else have this type of problem--its a 2005 v10--I could really use the help--thanks
Just on a pure safety note. If YOU KNOW it loses steering and braking, then YOU have a responsibility to not put yourself or OTHERS in danger by driving it until the problem is fixed. Okay, there is my little rant there.
I'd leave it at the dealer and tell them not to give it back until it's fixed. Then call them 5, 6, 7 times a day and bug them until it's corrected.

I agree--it will stay in the shop--but I need lots of backing via responses that I am not alone in the probem inorder for ford to take it seriously--thanks
Your best bet is go the deal informed. Check the TSB area ----> link here <----and find anything related to it. That's how I finally got them to replace the turbo and computer on my fathers truck.
thanks--I tried the tsb--nothing there that seems to relate--I seem to be alone in this problem area--I was hoping some one would say they had the same problem and what the solution was--thanks again
there is a tsb on the problem . i had it also sudden stall closed throttle and slowly turning the wheel. i saved the tsb's and will try and find the number again. to repair the problem they have to reflash the pcm and ither change the throttle body or the tps depending on the reading. after they did mine no more problems.
there are 2 tsb's that relate to stalling for the 05 trucks
tsb 05-12-1 referes to a problem with the lock up solinode for the torque converater sticking on.
and
tsb 06-3-9 which supercides tsb 05-26-14 which is also for slow speed closed throttle manuvering and req. a reflash and either a new tps or the replacement of the full throttle body depending on the reading found when they check it out.
what happening to you is a lazy tech or techs who failed to use oasis to help diag. your problem.
i checked my own , cost me 10 bucks but well worth it as i also down loaded a lot of othe information. www.motorcraft.com at the top click on tech resources. next page click on the left colum purchase subscription change the time to short "72hours" down load all your oasis information and store it for every complant or problem they list. check the list closely as you can also down load the factory shop manaual. electric diagrams and trouble shooting sheets just like the dealer. i spent about 10 hours and nothing was left to down load that i might need
Nice job Chas!!! It really sucks in this day and age that it takes ex-wrench and gear heads to fix problems that the dealer's have no clue about when they supposedly are privey to inside TSB's, training, and info.
the 06-3-9 is the one that fixed mine. found out after that it changed my pcm by 4 update reflashes and helped me get 1 more mpg out of it around town. has not stalled one time since. thats the best part.
next time i need information i think i'll spend the 99.99 for a full year subscription to the motor carft site . like it's 9.00 for 3 days. 16.99 for a month and 99.99 for a year, but for me when i know before the dealer it just makes my bseg even bigger.
thanks Capt.--I copied the tsb--it refers to deceleration--we get the problem on flat ground going approx.55mph--going uphill or mountain or going down hill--the tack going down hill is around 3300rpms and on flat ground around 2200-2300rpms --altitude ranges from sea level to 9500 feet--last time I was going up the ramp onto the highway and then it shut down--I have forwared the info to the ford dealer--thanks again for the help--the engine was not hot or cold just normal operation and it occures with out turning or stopping--thanks--capt.g--(100t for 10 years in the keys)
i had the same thing stalling like yours did not make any difference up down hill low speed higher speeds.this fixed mine but every motor combo is different . could be a bad tps like mine had and showed when they checked for this problems specs
also they have a tsb about checking the fuses under the hood to be sure they are properly pushed in. some were not from the factory and causeing problems.
flord says that none of the tsb codes relate to my problem and they can't find the problem--I have been told to pick up the motor home and drive careful--also they mentioned that they would not recommend taking it up in the mountains--as you can see the problem is getting worse--now I can only camp in Kansas--
sound like they don't want to be bothered with working on m.h. as it takes up to much room. and mine told me the same sit, that 06 number don't but it did. reflash the dame thing and find out.
