diesel emissions testing in NJ?

I've just purchased a '92 F-350 w/a 7.3 and a 12' stake body dump. I live in NJ. Having a background in chemistry, pumps, pipes and valves and farming, I plan to start making and running bio in the rig. First though, I need to work my way through the registration and inspection process we have here in NJ. I've just spent over an hour on their site, and I'm still confused. Hopefully there are some other NJ Bro's/Sis's that can answer a q for me. Here goes: What emissions inspection/testing requirements do I have here in NJ? It would possibly appear that there are none provided I tag the truck for 18K or less in weight. However, diesels taged for les than 18K are not listed on the emissions testing expemtions pages. Not talking about the basic safety inspection, but the diesel testing stuff. Thanks

Most states that require diesel testing do little more than a snap throttle opacity test.....so in most cases as long as it aint smokin' it will pass.

What's the GCVW your truck is rated for. I'd be willing to bet it's over 18K. If that's the standard you may be exempt.

They way I read that is if you are tagged at less than 18K you are exempt from testing.

Either way, biodiesel tends to smoke less than #2, so if anything it should help you to pass.....if you end up getting tested.
