Well I finally started the brake conversion and it isn't going easy.
Fighting to get the 4 bolts holding the brake backing plates off.
As I'm working away i thought something feels loose......both king pins are very sloppy !!
So far.....3 nights in the garage....not much progress.
At least you are working on it, I`m trying to catchup to my grass in the farm yard and other things that need doing. Keep at it and it will get done, keep us posted on how it`s going. This is an interesting swap, good to know how it goes.
Well it's not going to good. I haven't worked on the truck for 2 weeks. Yes I am working on the Plymouth, trying hard to get it ready for the big trip to Watrous the end of July for their car show. trying to get seat belts from Ebay, carb clean, signal light repairs, now all the lights quit, the fuel guage still doesn't work, need to buy 4 new tires (maybe wide whites). I was crazy busy last week with all the fires burning. I worked 5 days 16 hour days....green and white airplane after another. I like the rain !!
Back to the truck.....hopefully i wil have back together for the P.A. casino night, definantly CKOM weekend.
Well another up date....PA show won't have my truck there but i have made progress.
Finally got the brake backing plates off and one king pin out....BIG *%^##*&@ HAMMER, next is to drop the axle and i have all those nuts loose.....huge power bar.
I am thinking about removing 2 or 3 of the shortest leafs/leaves to lower the front.
Also I have to find somewhere to get some king pins and what ever else i need.
Well i have been working in dreamland again (name of my garage) and the bolt on parts are bolted on and i am going to say so far i am impressed with the kit. I didn't have to relocate any grease zerks for the king pins, the king pin rebuild went well they seem to turn free enough and not flop about. The calipers were machined so i didn't have to grind anything (the instructions said i would have to grind a bit for them to fit......someone had already machined them down)
They did send the wrong banjo bolts and no dust caps for the rotors
I ended up removing 2 leaves from each side....wait for the test drive to see if this will be good. I think the front has dropped a fair bit...again wait for to pull the truck out and step back.
All that is left is to run new plumbing.
