The misfire counters can be read just like O2, RPM, MAF flow, etc.

yeah, I know that about the CEL. The regular OBDII do not read a misfire code unless a CEL is on. I want the OBDII that reads PID's and misfires without a CEL. If this software and setup does that, I want to buy it. Just want to make sure before I make a purchase. You are saying that this software reads the counters and random misfires before it throws a code???? Thanks for the reply.
