i've heard this word before and realy it scares the crap out of me and i really don't kwow why.

I read a long article today about polymerized oil in the crank case alot of people were relating to wvo and diesel mixes because some of the wvo was running past the rings into the crankcase.

But this is not what i'm talking about now

i'm talking about polymerized fuel (specificly biodiesel).

1) what is it
2)what causes it
3) how do you tell if you have it
4)what damage can it do

Polymers are synthetic plastics made from oil, almost any oil can be made to "polymerize". Most oils are long chains, by applying the right heat and pressure these "chains" form cross-links that bind them more tightly thus forming plastics. WVO or SVO still has the glycerin bond tying 3 chains together so can be polymerized easyer than Biodiesel that has had the glycerin removed. Quality made Biodiesel should be no more likely to cause polymerization than dino-diesel.

A simple oil sampleing will have the percent of polymerization.

so your saying if my bio is well made even blowing air thew it to dry it the polymers will be minimal?
