Steering box head aches
I'm having a argument with the steering from my 1982 F-100. It uses the Bendix Bishop variable ratio type steer box.
Problem is it's continually working its way out of adjustment. The adjustment thats shifting in the one you access under the grub screw in the alloy top plate. The adjuster has no means of been locked up from what I can gather. So I removed the shaft from the box, best conclusion I can come up with is that it relies on tight press fit clearances when new to hold everything in place. With wear mine just backs itself out.
Looking at this thing, it doesn't look easily serviceable to me.......is there anyone who remanufactures an exchange unit or could supply a replacement shaft for this box ?
