Question How do I go about building the truck I want?

The truck I want to build was either never built or very rare. I would like to build a 1979 F-350 4x4 super cab short-bed. I have never seen this combination, so I wonder did Ford ever offer a truck like this? If not what would be the best way of building a truck like this? Should I a) buy a 1979 f-350 4x4 regular cab long bed and a 1979 f-150 super cab short-bed and switch bodies or b) buy a 1979 F-350 4x4 super cab long-bed and then get a short bed and shorten the frame? For and engine my plans are a 5.9 Cummins (would like to build a 24 valve with a mechanical pump) and an Allison automatic transmission. Can anyone give some insight or thoughts on a project like this?

Considering the F350 came with an 8 ft box and a 155" WB

The F250 SC with a 6.5' box and a 139" WB.
I say you have your work cut out for you.

Here is the list of trucks available in 79.
