Just received a call from the dealer service writer, he told me Ford Motor Company told them it is a high pressure connection tube which needs to be replaced, two days to ship the part here and one day to install.
I should know more by Friday afternoon.......

I hope this fixes your chirp; please keep us posted.
Mine goes to the shop tomorrow morning. I got called by lab that I send my oil analysis to; they reported my first oil sample from the factory fill has greater than 4% fuel dilution and that my copper is at 64 ppm. Dealer seems less than concerned; however, I'm complaining about fuel economy being less than my 04 at same mileage point. I wonder if that HPOP connector has any copper in it?
I don't know if I'll complain about the chirp just yet to the dealer.

In my words this is what it says....
Good luck to you on getting yours repaired, I hope this is it.
Please keep us posted,

In my words this is what it says....
May have a metal tapping noise on decel, light accel, or when the IPR is at high duty cycle. In park or neutral use scan tool to command IPR to 45% and listen for noise with stethoscope at rear engine cover & HPOP cover. Rev engine up to 2800 RPM then release while listening for noise. If noise loudest at these locations then remove HPOP cover and inspect the quick connect fitting for hitting the rear cover (there may be marks). Replace both male & female fittings.
Maybe this fitting can also rub and squeak when it is metal to metal contact?Good luck to you on getting yours repaired, I hope this is it.
Please keep us posted,

Now this is getting strange......
Call from service advisor tells me the replacement part coming in to fix the chirp was recalled by Ford today and they will be issuing a new version....available in one month.
He also told me another 2006 6.0 came into the dealer shop today with the same chirp.
He apologized, but told me I would have to live with the noise one more month.
May learn more tomorrow when I retrieve my truck. Will let you know.

pdxharv: thanks for update. My dealer seemed to have no concern over my oil analysis showing greater than 4% fuel dillution or the 64ppm of copper; he did not even write it on the ticket. I complained of shifting in tow haul and poor fuel economy; they did injector and cylinder balance test, checked boost, and reflashed the PCM (which I wanted). I think they added air to my tires, but I haven't yet checked. They wrote my complaint about the chirp, squeak, etc. down as a whistle and reported no problem found.
Hopefully in a month you will get your truck repaired and I'll have something to go on regarding the noise. The described occurance of the tapping noise described in the SSM shares the same occurance for the 'squeak' and I'll bet they are one and the same problem.
I will use the vacuum cleaner trick and install my Fumoto valve in place of the drain pan at 7500 miles, then draw another oil sample and sent it in for analysis. I hope the fuel dillution is less than 0.5%. If the copper remains high; well, time will tell. If the fuel dillution remains high I will find another dealership service department.

Picked up my truck this morning, the service writer said Ford had sent a replacement "HPOP" unit yesterday, but called the dealer telling them not to install it as they have had a problem with the replacements and are fabricating a new and improved unit, it will be ready to ship in about 30 days. Sounds like they have known where the problem is and now realize the hpop part is the cause. Diesel tech said it will involve about 10 hours labor to fix.
