high stall speed on new trans

just had a new jasper trans installed in my old truck, the new trans came with a 1300rpm stall converter . I was wondering does this sound right,I had a 1300 stall in my 69 el camino. other than the high stall speed the jasper HD 4R100 has been a great choice so far

1300 really isn't high, stock converter is closer to 2000. Get much lower and you'd never move as it would probably kill it everytime.

Yeah, I rebuilt mine back in early March. It was actually pretty fun I though, but I like doing this kind of thing as well. What would have been really nice is to have two transmissions. One to rebuild and still drive the other around. Then you wouldn't be pushing things to get them done. So other than the little bit of rush and the 2" of snow the morning I put it back in, it was a great experience. I actually wouldn't mind rebuilding more as I still find it intriguing.

I got my kit from http://www.txchange.com/ which included the T/C (email them for a price quote on the kit w/o T/C). Suncoast has pretty much the same rebuild kit with out the T/C for about 500. Either one uses the same clutches and steels. If you go with txchange, they have two rebuild kits, a general and an extreme which is the one I have and same as suncoast kit. The suncoast kit you still would need to get the Transgo repro kit seperately.
