89 E-350 15-passenger van losing power
Just found this sight to add to my Faves! Anyways, I love my van, but I haven't been able to figure out all the little quirks I keep running up against. I just had the fuel selector valve replaced and the fuel system checked and all was well. Also had the water pump replaced and cooling system worked on. The problem is the van has a hard time gaining speed. Would a power drain be caused more by an engine "issue" or a transmission issue? I thought at first it was a fuel issue. The transmission was worked on about a year ago to replace some lines and things and given a clean bill of health, but I have to let off the gas a bit to get it to shift. The van has a hard time getting to 45 MPH and beyond. It is also only getting about 4 MPG. Any suggestions and help would be appreciated. Could it be something as simple as bad plugs and wires? Thanks in advance.

No power and only 4 MPG??? Oh yeah something's wrong with the engine. If the tranny were slipping that bad, it would generate enough heat to burn itself up in no time.
Fuel pressure regulator... timing chain... O2 sensor... totally clogged air filter... plugged cat... bad MAP sensor... bad coolant temp sensor... bad throttle position sensor...
