Question 2001 Ford Supercab F150 XL 4X2

I just traded my 1995 F150 XL 4X4 300 6 CYCLINDER 170.000 KMS.
I have replaced it with a 2001 Ford F150 XL Supercab 4x2 positive traction 4.6L 8 CYCLINDER 123,000KMS.
I am looking for opinions on this "new to me" truck. What can I expect in regards of performance, gas mileage(better or worse than the 95) durability and longevity. What are some common problems, and can I expect this truck to be relative trouble free or can I expect headaches and heartaches?

Thanks in advance. I appreciate any feedback from owners of this truck and personal experience.

I have a very similar 2001 4.6 4x2 with LS, purchased new, now with about 120,000 miles. It's an absolutely great truck!

Only weakness seems to be the ignition coils; I've replaced 4 of 8. If you get a "Service Engine Soon" light, and a "misfire cylinder #.." DTC, you will probably need a new Coil On Plug (COP). I would recommend a recently produced Motorcraft to get the best design.

I have also had to replace the alternator, but nothing else other than normal wear and maintenance items.

Feel the love? We LIKE our trucks! 2000 F150 4x4 LS Flareside; only minor problems (battery, door window seal, aftermarket audio, etc.)

I have a 97 F150 4.6 that just turned 185000 miles two days ago. Only minor things to fix. New left hub up front. Plugs and wires. Mine has treated me well. For fuel milage getting on avg 15-17, and upwards of 18-20 on highway.

I own a 2001 2WD Supercrew Lariat w/68,000 miles. Great truck except for two major complaints. Door lock actuators are pitiful. All 4 door locks are starting to fail. Also, my COP on cylinder #7 keeps going out. Consequently its the hardest to get to in order to replace so I always pay to have it done. Not cheap and its a serious headache. Gas mileage is about 15.5 city/18 highway. I wish it were better on gas but not many full size trucks are good so I'll take it. The ride is very good though and I think you'll be happy overall. I'd rate my truck a 7.5 out of 10 overall.
