Talking A new look in an hour and a half

So last night, I rolled my truck into my friend Tim's shop ... at first we were looking underneath to see how we could lower the truck (if you have any good ideas, feel free to share ... i'm not going IFS though). After concluding that we had nothing we could do that night, we decided to jump into some custom paint ideas I had been tossing around. My friend Mike laid down some red scalloping on the sides of the cab and the bed. The guy is a wizard, it looks awesome.

(Sorry for the photo in the dark, but we did this in the shop at night. I'll take more photos tomorrow in the daylight.)

Sometime soon, probably next week, we're going to do some scallops on the hood, between all the ridges. I'm also considering doing something on the back of the cab, like around the window and following the body contour just above/behind the door. All the scalloping will eventually be outlined with a white pinstripe. I thought you guys might be interested in seeing what we did to the truck.

SWEET! Looks period perfect and really makes the black "pop"!

My $0.02 on lowering - sounds like you want about what I wanted so here's what I've got in the works. Took my springs to a local spring shop and had new main leaves with reversed eye's made for all the springs...every other spring leaf removed (well in the back kept the two longest leaves and then every other at the shops recommendation) and had the teflon slider stuff installed between the leaves. Cost is a consideration and the whole bill from the spring shop was $421 and change and I got em back assembled with clamps and painted in basic black. Cost inculded angle plates (4 degrees), slider stuff, clamps and new U bolts cut to fit. Seemed like a fair deal to me -when you throw in shipping costs that's about half what I could order the parts for and do it all myself. Paint is kinda industrial strength but it's not a show truck so I'm ok with that (and I could fix it easy enough if I wanted to).

I'm also flipping the hangers for the front of the rears and will also move them up on the frame - this will both free up the reversed eyes and prevent binding and may get about 1 more inch of lowering. Overall I hope to get about 3 inches of lowering and a softer ride from the effort and I suspect that the same approach would work well on your truck. There is a bunch of stuff on the site about lowering with basically the same method - do a search on leaf springs or lowering springs and you'll get a ton of information from a lot of smart people.

Hope that's helpful and I love the scallops!!!

Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen.

I just went outside and snapped some daylit, albeit overcast, pictures.

Very nice, now you need something on the hood to break up the color.

Sweet! Ya even got the red dice that helps to break up the black, awesome job. I agree that you need a little on the hood as well, and as you suggested something around the rear window....or the tailgate...

Scallops look awesome.

You are not wrong about it needing lowering........about a foot would be good

PS You have WAY to much grass. Mowing it must use up lots of building time. You need a 3000 sq ft Barn.....and more firewood
