Fuel filter and oil filter change manuals with photos
I got a quote of $75 for fuel filter change and $95 for oil change from a stealership. WTF, Fuel filters cost only $17 (give or take)…that’s the story.
Coming to point, can anyone direct me to manuals( preferably with photos) for changing fuel filter and air filter (may sound stupid but I always had gas engines with me and I never got my hands dirty). Most of the manuals that I found are just instructions with no photos.
Also, how often should I change the oil filters( need manuals again plz)?
Thanks guys,
VJ
My truck : 2000 Lariat LE, 7.3 L, CC,LB ,Dually, 36 K miles, ton of cosmatic updates, saving $$$ for lift and tires now.

For 25 bucks or so you can get a haynes or clymer manual that has lots of good photos with detailed instructions on doing those jobs and many others. Auto parts stores and such should have them, I got mine on ebay. Changing the oil on your diesel is just like a gasser except a lot more oil and the oil filter is alot bigger. I would suggest punching or drilling a small hole in the filter to drain it first before you take it off. It holds alot of oil and can be hard to hold on to when taking it off. As for the interval I change mine around 5000 miles. As for the air filter I am not sure I just switched over to the Quick filter but I plan on changing it once a year and I clean it out when I change oil.

What Corner Gas said.
And don't be caught unprepared with the tiny little oil drain pan that they try to sell you - it won't hold it all.
The Powerstroke holds 14-15 quarts, so you need a 5 gallon bucket to catch it all. I use one of those custodian's buckets that have wheels on it. Just fits under the truck without having to jack it up.

fuel filter is EASY. On top of the engine, you'll see the black shroud with "POWERSTROKE" stamped in it. look just behind it. You'll see a circular cap, about 4" in diameter, with little fins on it and a 1/2" square hole in the center. That's your fuel filter cap.
Use a 1/2" rachet with an extension. Stick it in and take it off.
now sometimes the filter is in the cap, usually it is still in the bowl. It sits on a little spout so it's going to take a small amount of pressure to tug on it to get it loose
you'll have 2 o-rings. One goes on your filter, the other goes on the cap/around the edge where the cap seals. Note how the old one comes out. Take a small amount of diesel (there will be some in the bowl) and "wet" the new seal for the bowl. Put the new filter in, and tighten down the cap.
NEXT - turn on the key and wait about 15-30 seconds to allow the pump to refill the bowl. Start the engine, check for leaks and that's it !

Oil filter is on driver's side back of motor. Use a philips screwdriver to poke a hole in the bottom and let drain into a bucket. You might need a filter wrench get it off once drained. Use a light film of fresh oil on the gasket and spin on. If you use a Napa filter you will see some numbers and when the filter makes contact with the block take note of the numbers and it will tell you how far to tighten. EX. if it stops on a 1. it will say tighten to 3, that way it won't be over tightened and split the gasket.

This article is right here on the forum under...you guessed it, articles/specs at the top. No photos. Also, if you have a lid without the square ratchet hole in the top, and cannot loosen it by hand, you will need a strap wrench, or I use large channellocks.
Hope this helps, I saw an illustrated article a long time ago but don't remember where.
