Transfer case question

It seems like I rememeber reading or hearing way back when about being able to reduce the gear ratio or the NP205 case with some NP203 internals? Am I correct about this? For some reason I keep thinking you can do this but I don't know. It's been on my mind for the last week!! I have both, the NP205 from my old Bronco and a NP203 that came with the truck I bought. The only catch is the 203 case had been converted from full time to part time operation and the last owner, somehow, broke the shaft that converts if from full to part time. I want to use the 205 for the simple fact it is a part time case and I don't have to repair it, but I can't help but think you can swap shafts or something in these things.....

Maybe check in the drivetrain forum where the transfer case guys hang out ?

Or in the 4x4 forum.

There are no internal hard part interchanges between the 205 and the 203 that I'm aware of. Are you trying to lower your gear ratio for slower crawl speed (higher numerical ratio)? You can use the 203 along with the 205 for a doubler.

Ok, so....my thread gets moved here and no one tells me about it. Nice. *ahem*...anyhow. I'm curious now. How does this doubling of the NP205 and NP203 cases work??
