Leveling questions

Forgive me, but I have become confussed reading all of these threads. I have a 96 F150 4X4 without the tow package. The front end is lower than the rear and all that I want to do is level my truck. Origanally I was going to purchase the spacers; but from the replies that sounds like a bad idea. Will the 2" coil springs be the best and safest option? Again forgive me for yet another thread on this subject. I have placed 31" tires on the truck. They have enough clearance I just think the truck would look and handle alot better at a level height all around. I live in Colorado witch gets alot of snow and lowered front end tends to cause the rear end to slide. Any thoughts???

your truck probably slides around in the snow because your tires have a 10.5" footprint. for better snow traction you want thinner tires.

I'm not really looking for better snow traction. I would just like the truck to be level. A good driver wont slide in the snow.

the best drivers can slide in snow. a few years back, i was in my stepdad's f-350 on my country road to my house. i noticed someone in the ditch so i slowed almost to a stop and started to approach them. all of a sudden, the entire truck just broke traction and slid perfectly sideways into the ditch. because of this 3mph sideways slide, a 4wd lifted ford could not pull me out and a tow truck almost could not get the truck wenched out. it had to pull to the opposite side of the road, put down its metal feet things, and wench me across. as i came out of the ditch, he slid and we met in the middle of the road.

if i were you, i WOULD be looking for better snow traction. i do everything i possibly can to get good traction in snow and ice. i drive safely but you never know when you may slide into a ditch or be forced to drive in a deep spot because some unexperienced driver is flying down the middle of the road.
