Was looking to do a c6 swap into my 94 F150 with E40d. Was looking to do it for a 9 inch swap and a np205 swap. Plus the C6 are alot stronger and I dont want an overdrive tranny. What type of computer would I need or were could i get it reflahsed or what ever. Plus would the small block C6 bolt up to a np205 out of a 79 Bronco. Any other advice is helpful Thanks.
Well you will have one big hurdle if you install a 9 inch rear axle and that is the 9 inch does not have the tone wheel for your speedometer. There have been a fewpeople who I believe have modified the 9 inch to accept the tone wheel. The tone wheel is also for your anti lock brakes but one can live with them.
All the ford t-cases share the same bolt pattern. How ever in 78/79 ford had to different length adapters and in the 80 and up models I belive it's different from the 78/79 models. The only issue that the adapet will present is the t-case shifter mounting. I would use the 78/79 shifter with the 205. The 80 and up adapters may have to have a notch cut in the adpater to clear the 78/79 205 shifter rod.
You can alwas swap the output shaft from the bronco trans to the SB trans. Then everything will fit as it should with out any mods. This will have to be done if the trans is a 4x2 trans. By the way the 79 bronco has the longer adapter for the t-case.
Not realy sure on the computer question but one could get a ford truck with a C6 in it so a computer from that model truck may work. Again I am not sure if the different years will make a difference or not. It may be easier to convert to Mass Air.
Another option may be to install a computer from a manual set up. I know it may not be the perfect choice but it would run better than the E4OD computer.
