Is this the correct color for my engine?

http://silver340.home.comcast.net/Fordengine.JPG Shouldn't this be a light blue? I think it was panted before with the wrong color.

I forgot to mention, this is a 1968. Did they use only one color each year? What years did they change colors?

Looks like the darker blue they started using in the 70s. The earlier engine color was a bit lighter. It still looks like Ford blue - just the newer version.

Off subject but why do you have a dual vacuum advance unit unless that is a newer motor or distributor?

Maybe I have a later year engine in it. It may have been replaced at one time. Is there a date code on the block that I can check?

Yeah, it's a bit on the dark side. On that engine, between the two inner spark plugs on each head there should be a casting number. It'd be something like D2TE-AA or something along those lines.

I think that's the "Ford Dark Blue" from the 70's as mentioned by Oppy. "Old Ford Blue" is medium while "Ford Blue" is pretty bright. I've played around with all of them. I use "Old Ford Blue" on my stuff. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/colors/highheat.html
