What kind of HP/ft-lbs does the 6.4L spec at??

Rumor has it, that it will be somewhere within the 325/610 lb ft.. Again this is all speculation.. Sounds kind of low for a twin-turbo right? The new Cummins 6.7L is rated at 325/605 lb ft. This is because of the new emissions standards for 2007. Depending on what state you live in, you may have to have your 07' and above diesels emissions tested....

Yeah, I'm hoping not, but I have a feeling we're all getting excited over an engine that is going to be victimized by emissions junk. Like the big v8's back in the 70's that slowly started losing power/tq over the years as emissions standards became more strict. But, what we will end up with is more efficient/stronger/cleaner burning diesels sometime in the future, just like the gas engines right now, finally back to making good power.

Looking at the on-highway truck engines such as CAT ACERT the new models are actually making more power and torque from smaller capacity. I don't think the emissions immediately creates a loss of power.
I'd guess that increased capacity gives the ability to run lower combustion temps for the same power levels when using cooled EGR. In any case Duramax sets the standard so I'd expect 350hp+ for the 6.4. Anything less really lets GM push the advantage they have in drivetrain. With the revamp of the 07 Sierra etc Ford will have to step up don't you think?

Well, if you look at it from Ford's point of view.. look at all their cars. Everyone of them is underpowered in it's class (except for a few like the mustang, GT, gt500, carsl ike that.) They have an underpowered 5.4 in the f150 and its still the best seling truck.
When the 6.0 first came out it was outpowered by the other 2, but still pulled faster and harder. I would hope that Ford will step it up, but at this point, I'm not sure that they will.

if you get the latest diesel power it shows that the ford performed better than dodge in 1/4 mile with and with out a trailer. but it lost to chevy. also thay made a point of saying that "the dodge seemed to be influenced more by the trailer more so than ford but not as much as chevy." chevy may have the most powerfull engine but they have the lowest tow/hual ratings of all 3. according to DP.
