humm when turning right
I have a 2002 escape, 2wd, v6, 90k miles that exhibits a loud hum when turning to the right only. rotating wheels front to back didn't change anything. very loud and obnoxious at highway speeds. less pronounced as speed decreases. no clicking when turning left or right. has anyone had this problem before? thanks.

I have an '02 Tribute that does the same exact thing described above. I have heard it is the tire being used. I replaced my original set with the same exact continental tire. After having the new tires installed I noticed the hum/vibration even more. I hope it is the tires that are causing the hum/vibration. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanx Jamie

Is there any way to check the bearings for need of replacement without tearing the spindle apart? Also, if it is the bearings, is the changeout something I can do or are there special tools/equipment involved? thanx jamie

I'm having the same problem with my 2001 escape V6 4x4 xlt...just did front wheel bearing and the noise is still there!! also,there is a little work involved changing the wheel bearings(more so the back)also,you do need SOME specialty tools...ie:hub puller etc...
