Gauge Install's - How hard is the install?
I have a boost gauge and a EGT gauge and I am thinking of doing the install myself. I am sort of mechanically inclined but would say I am not great at it. I got a quote from a shop to do it and they want $356 plus supplies and taxes to install 2 gauges. I have looked at numerous how to's and what scares me is tapping the manifold - never used atap before. and the wiring. With the wiring I am unsure of how to tap into my truck's power system without screwing something up. Too many wires!!!!! Can any of you offer a good walk through on the wiring and offer up any advice for tapping the hole? I would appreciate it.

Use the band clamp method if you are not comfortable with tapping a hole. It will be in the instructions of the EGT gauge and the clamp should be in the kit. You drill a hole in the up pipe right after the manifold on the drivers side. I installed mine 3 gauge set in about 2 hours taking my time. It is not difficult, just follow the directions. As far as finding a hot wire, I just used a terminal in the fuse panel that was switched with the key. My lights are on in the gauges anytime I am driving, but I don't mine. During the daylight, you can't see the light anyway. It was just easier than tracking down a wire from the light switch.
