I am planning on installing it finally this weekend and was wondering if there is anything special that I will need since a lot of the shops will be closed on Memorial Day around here? Any tips or tricks as it seems pretty straight forward?
It's pretty straight forward. The only special tool you might need is an inch-lb torque wrench for the actual bolts and nuts that hold the VB in.
Tips - there's a little screen filter above the VB that will need to come out before you put the plate in that Brian sends. Pull the filter, put up the plate, then put the little filter back in, and then the rest of the VB.
- I used the DI sonnax kit instructions as a photographic guide and to get the torque specs for the VB
- Have about 8 quarts of fluid on hand
- Suggested to use a new tranny filter. It's cheap insurance, and since you've already got the pan off and the filter pulled out....
- Re-use the stock trans pan gasket. The new ones that typically come with a new filter do not work well and will probably leak.
Yup. 10 lb-ft doesn't seem like much. I noticed my pan gasket isn't leaking, but there is a bit of weepage collecting dirt. So, while I'm under the truck this weekend, am planning to re-torque them.
Of course the VB bolts are very little torque - even measured in inch-pounds.
