I am looking at buying a '72 F-250 "parts truck" to upgrade my '66 F-100. I am wanting to take the entire drivetrain, suspension, and air-conditioning from the '72 and put it on my '66. The '72 has power-steering w/ fluid cooler (interesting), factory air conditioning, power disc brakes w/ 2-piston calipers (interesting), 8-lug wheels, and a Dana rear-end. My first question is: Is this brake system feasible to put on my '66? The disc conversion tech article does not mention this particular system.
My second question is: Should I use the Dana axle instead of the 9" open rear already under my '66.

I think every thing should bolt up with little to no modifications except the factory air. That I dont know about. The swaping of the front brakes is easy. Take off the whole I beam from both sides and swap it in. If you do this, you might as well do the rear end too, why would you want 8 lug in the front and 5 lug in the rear?

Paul, gotta thought, why don't you just move the sheet metal to the 72 chassis? The chassis vin is the only problem that I can see, if you don't mind the stiffer suspention of the 3/4 ton truck.

1972 F-250

I've got a 1969 with factory air, but don't know if there were changes to the 1972. Everything inside the engine compartment should bolt up. But I don't if the factory AC unit will bolt to the inside of your truck. It is a big, under dash type affair. I don't have my manualls with me, or I would be able to scan some pictures for you.
