2005 F150 caught on fire!
My husband's "Check Engine" light came on his 2005 F150 XL last Friday AM. He checked under the hood and body of the truck for loose wires or leaks to no avail. Within 10 minutes of getting back on the interstate, the truck slowed from 60mph to 40 and smoke starting filling the cab from underneath the dash.
By the time he got off the shoulder of the road, flames were shooting out. Luckily he escape unharmed but the entire engine and cab interior are gone. Only steel and wires remain! Anybody ever heard of this?
Ford still takes the #1 Safety and Performance ratings for full-size pickups so anybody know where we can get a 2004, 2005 or 2006 replacement F150 with low miles, 4x4 on the fly, extended cab, towing pkg and power windows/locks in Indianapolis area? It must have an 8' bed.

Interesting post. About two weeks ago I had my engine light come on in a flashing mode. It later (about 5 minutes) went away. After stopping down the road, the manuel stated that the flashing engine light meant that the engine was misfiring and the truck shouldn't be accelerated or decelerated quickly. The manuel also stated that fire may result if driven in this mode. I called the dealer and they said if it cleared itself, it should be OK. needless to say, I didn't park it in the garage when I got home. They also noted that bad gas was most likely the culprite.
