VSM location

VSM location
I have an 02 XLT, it doesn't have the security option that I know, so I assume there is no VSM. I did try cycling the key to test. I bought a Ford remote entry/start entry kit. Looking for a place to mount the module. Was thinking where the VSM would have been. I searched an many have said it is located on firewall behind radio. If so, is pulling the radio the way you access the VSM? Assume no one would have pictures of it mounted. Another post suggested it is behind the main fusebox. This remote entry/start box looks a lot like a VSM I think.
On the hump of my truck, behind a black plastic trim, is some electrical box. Not sure how the trim is removed to see what that box is for. Anyone know what that is? It is silver in color an I think the VSM is black.

Since you have a 2002 and if you have one, the VSM is located about a foot up from the tranny hump. You have to remove a lot more than just the radio to access it that way.
I had to replace mine a while back, you can access it by lying on your back on the drivers floor board. A strategic flashlight placement will help with the visual but a lot of it deals with feel. There a two 10mm studs that are caddy corner of each other that mount the VSM to the fire wall. Typically, there are three plugs connected to the VSM at the bottom (some trucks only have two).
Patience,a clean floor board and a 10mm deep-well 1/4 inch drive socket are my only recommendations.
