Definetly, I think that was a big part of the problem with the 6.0's.. undertrained or not trained at all for 6.0 work mechanics. Maybe Ford learned from that mistake..

The 6.4L Powerstroke is shaping up to be something you are not going to want to own after the warranty expires. 'Made the cab easy to remove'??? Ford has lost it. No way I am going to buy one. Ford needs to build their own diesel, instead of trying to make a 'Cornbinder' fit in their trucks.

I think it's easier to work on a John Deere Combine in a muddy field than work on this new oddly designed 2008 Engineered Truck

Just out of curiosity, with no harshness intended Louisville Joe, what do you suggest Ford should do as far as building the their own diesel? It's probably much cheaper to buy International engines and put them in their trucks.

What about putting the motor on slides that allow the motor to move forwards in front of the grill. Like a Diesel generator on a Diesel Pusher Motorhome?

Sliding Motor mounts??????

Have you ever seen a VT-365 (6L Powerstroke) or for that matter a T444E (7.3L Powerstroke) in an International truck? Fits nice, you can get to everything. Yes, it's a bigger truck, but the Ford always looked like the end result of a poorly planned engine swap under the hood. Ford is working on their own 4.4L V-8 diesel (rumored for the F-150), how about a larger version for the Super Duty's? BTW- International never had that great a reputation as a diesel truck engine builder. The DT 466 and 530 were the notable exceptions.

Yes I have actually. And yes the 365 fits nicely, and the 444 did fit quite nicely. I do agree with you, they do cram them into the Ford's like nothing else. I don't know if I'd go with a different diesel, but maybe modify the truck so that it's possible to work on it? Like maybe a bigger engine compartment?

At the bus garage, we have a good number of International busses. In my old bus, the engine was the only thing that didn't go wrong. It was the 466 by the way. We lost the trans a few times (Allison AT545), plus a whole bunch of little electrical problems. The busses equipped with the 444E's have been awesome busses, with over 250,000 miles on all of them.

Nevertheless, I think all engine companies have their downfalls. But I think that Ford could work something out with their truck's to better fit one of their engines. But whats the use, here before long us "backyard" mechanics will be no good anyways!
