I am getting ready to do a complete new paint job on my "67 F100. I don't want to sound like an idiot at the paint store and could use some info. I don't know all the years used but, there was a Blue color in past years I really want to use. It is a very soft light blue. Anyone tell me what the factory called this color? And about what years is was out?
I've found a few old paint colors that maybe will help, I'll start with 1960 and go up,if its older let me know I've got them all the way back to 46'.
60'-Academy Blue,Sky Mist Blue
61'-Academy Blue,Light Blue,Turquoise
62'-Baffin Blue, Academy Blue, Carribean Turquoise
63'-Carribean Turquoise, Glacier Blue, Academy Blue
64'-Carribean Turquoise, Academy Blue, Skylight Blue
65'-Turquoise, Medium Blue
66'-Carribean Turquoise, Arcadian Blue, Marlin Blue
67'-Frost Turquoise, Harbor Blue
68'-Sky View Blue, Harbor Blue
69'-Sky View Blue, Arcadian Blue, Brittany Blue, Marlin Blue, Reef Aqua, Harbor Blue
70'-Sky View Blue, Brittany Blue Metallic, Reef Aqua, Diamond Blue, Acapulco Blue Metallic, Harbor Blue
71'-Sky View Blue, Diamond Blue, Swiss Aqua, Bahama Blue
72'-Medium Blue Metallic, Light Blue, Medium Blue Metallic(? two different codes??) Medium Blue, Bright Medium Blue, Medium Bright Aqua, Light Aqua, Medium Turquoise
The only one I can vouch for is the Harbor Blue, but its a medium blue color, I don't think its the one you want. Hope this helps, maybe seeing the name might jog your memory. If its older, like I said let me know I've got them too. Good Luck!
Hey Curtis, thanks for the info. It must be the sky view blue from late 60's to early 70's. I sure wish I could see some pics to be for sure.I remember this color from when I was in high school(70-74).Always liked it on the short box body.Especially if the truck had a nice crome job on grill and bumpers.
My truck came originally with the wind blue color. It is a soft "baby blue" - thats how I would describe it. I like it much better than the sky view blue. I just now took some pictures. If you would like to see them just email me at dt1972lr@juno.com and I'll send them to you. One picture is the paint chips with sky view blue next to wind blue. The next picture is the inside of my truck which still has the original paint.
