Please help me .. I'm at my wits end ..

I have an 00 F150 4.2L 5 Speed SC SB..

A few months ago I changed out the clutch.. I rented a bay, hoisted it up on a lift and my buddy who works for Ford helped me change it.. He left and went back home up north and now i have issues.. After the tranny was serviced I got an SES Light giving code

P0136, 02 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank I Sensor 2)

I have replaced both sensors on the passenger side, the one in the manifold and the one in the cat. Disconnected battery for 20 mins, few miles/minutes/hours/days later, same code is back..

Then I had the code pulled again and read autozones little book.. Says "Misfire may alert code".. Said ok, 71k miles, change the wires. Just installed Ford Factory Wires today, I paid $77.00 for them, disconnected battery, 32 minutes later, same code!

Its starting to really tick me off.. I've spent $200.00 and this light wont go away!

I dont know what else to check.. Hell my buddy and I got crazy and flipped the plugs for the 2 Sensors in the Cat hoping it would give me another code since the plug from Bank 1 Sensor 2 was in Bank 2 Sensor 2.. Still shot the same code. So I dont think its an O2 Sensor that is out..

Any help is appreciated..

well bank 1 sensor 2 is the pass. side sensor behind cat. you might want to check the wiring for any damage that may have been caused while removing trasmission. Back 02 sensors monitor cat efficiency. Don't think a misfire would trip code for a #2 sensor as far as I know.

Ditto.
I'd think a damaged wiring harness or connector would be a likely candidate.
With all you have changed out, the fixed wiring and connector is the one thing common.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks.

What can I do to test the wiring? Or how would I go about repairing? I guess what I'd look for is a tear, cut, or pinch between something by the tranny?.. I can't afford an entire wiring harness..

You pretty much answered your own question :-). Look for any type of pinch, tear, or cut. make sure you have a good connection at connector, make sure its not loose. See if any wires are broken. Even if there is a broken wire you do not need to replace the entire wiring harness. If you repair a wire I would suggest using heatshrink tubing over the connector you use to splice in a wire.

Ok ya'll were right.. After hoisting it up on the lift and searching we found the Harness was pinched up at the top of the Bell housing.. We got it out and there was minimal damage. We cleaned up the mess, tapes up the wires and are awaiting to see if that works.. Did a 12v test and an oHMs test, everything passed.. If it throws a code again then we'll go in and repair the harness..
