Key to Access Spare Tire

I have a 2002 Ford F-150 truck. My problem is I cannot find the key so I can lower the spare tire to change out the tire. Is there any way to get a replacement key using the truck VIN or do I need to get the system cut out and replaced completely?

Thanks but are all the keys the same? The way the dealer talked, there were many different keys and that is the reason they could not just get a replacement one for me.

There are about 12 different keys. When I bought mine, it didn't have one so I took it to a dealer here and they had a "master" kit. They tried the different keys til they found the one that worked, then ordered it for me. $17.

Thanks for the information. I guess the dealer I took it to initially was not being cooperative. I will go back and get them to try the different keys.

It is a "Master Set". At least thats what I saw when the dealer here dragged out the box. Shouldn't be a big deal. only took about 10 minutes to find the right one and get the order placed. You may have to try more than one dealer though. Not all of them may have the set.
