Fired 'er up yesterday...

Woohoo! Progress! It's been a long time coming but after an HEI wiring snafu, a carburetor issue, chasing some bolts I forgot to tighten, and a few water leaks solved, my engine finally ran yesterday. It had been sitting since 1995. It's not ready for a test drive yet, but it did start up and idle for a few minutes. The alternator is charging, my homemade alternator warning light works, and my gas gauge is accurate thanks to you guys. I'm hoping to get it on the road in the next couple of months.

Vern,

That's great to hear! (your news and the engine!) Always good to clear a milestone and it gives you incentive to make the next one! CONGRATULATIONS!!

Congratulations, Vern! That's GreatNorthNews! How was the idle? What do you still have to do before you can take it for a spin?

Let's see...ummm, a seat, a couple of doors, hood, fenders, windshield, back glass, interior, bed, and getting the engine to smooth out. She's runnin' a little ragged right now. Obviously, I have some fine tuning to do.

Vern,
That is excellent news!!!!
Don't let little things like doors and seats stop you. Make it happen. Bolt up a temporary radiator support, grab a 5 gallon bucket or milk crate and take the beast around the block (take lots of pics). My first trip around the block looked pretty silly (I think there is a pic in my gallery) Besides it gives the neighbors something to talk about

Congrats!!!

Hmm, you better stop dawdling then Vern. You only have about 7 weeks before the winter snows start up there.
Has Carl A. been by to harass you yet?

Have you seen that picture of George driving Earl, or more correctly, Earl's running gear around the block? I think he's sitting on a piece of plywood, but it didn't stop him! Check out Earl's world if you haven't seen it...

Vern, where's your sense of adventure?

Carl,

Don't remind me. The summer is short enough as it is. Haven't seen Carl A. lately...

Well, you're half right!! Now wipe that silly grin of fyour face and go out there and find a bucket and drive the danged thing around the block. You don't have to worry about anyone blowing your doors off.
