Could someone tell me if you have to take off fuel rail to change plugs
I am planning to change my plugs. Can you get them out without taking the fuel rails off? What are the torque specifications for the plugs? Does anyone know of a link of directions in doing the plugs on a Lightning?
I've never replaced plugs on a Lightning but I think they should be pretty much the same as on a normal 5.4.
There are instructions at the top of the 97-03 F-150 forum.
If it's the same you don't need to remove the fuel rails but some people find it easier to do so.
Get a 7mm swivel socket and you'll be golden. That makes it a ton easier to take off the coil packs. Then it's just a matter of working around everything to get the plugs out.

You don't need to remove the fuel rails, you won't be able to get a proper angle on all of the plugs to properly use a torque wrench, and here is your link. Scroll down for the instructions.
