T98 with PTO

Just curious if there is any interest in a borg Warner T98 trans with the factory PTO output gear box attached to it. It is out of a 1954 F350 that had a dump bed.

I have a non PTO T98 already; don’t need a PTO on a stake truck I am doing, and debating which one to keep/use/sell.

if it isn’t worth much I might toss in the PTO unit Incase I ever wanted to use it in some fashion.

Hiya- Still got it? I've been looking like crazy for a PTO for my T98 on 1953 f600.
PM Me if so.

Thanks!

Ford never offered a PTO, it's aftermarket and was either dealer or owner installed.

Is it just an in-and-out or does it have forward-neutral-reverse?

interesting! So all the trucks that had dump beds, were express trucks, and someone added the bed and hydraulics?

Exactly. Ford never offered a dump bed on anything.

Dump bed only then, not for winch or power transmission. Power up, gravity down.

it is a single gear that pulls into the counter shaft gear.

gravity or power down would depend on the valving and cylinder type wouldn't it?

Greg,
your correct. The only way for the PTO to spin backwards is if they ever made one with a "counter gear". It would need 3 gears in it. 1 gear used for forward and 2 gears used for backwards. Next is, if they make a pump that allows reverse rotation?

Every PTO setup of this age I have ever worked on has been 1 direction only, with a gravity return to the oil reservoir.

True. Much simpler, cheaper, and faster for gravity down. Gravity valving simply returns oil straight back to the reservoir.

Tulsa, Braden, and Gar-Wood made F-N-R and multi-speed PTO's. They were primarily used for winches and transit mixers. A lot of Braden winches were used on military vehicles.

Is this available?

Just curious if there is any interest in a borg Warner T98 trans with the factory PTO output gear box attached to it. It is out of a 1954 F350 that had a dump bed.

I have a non PTO T98 already; don’t need a PTO on a stake truck I am doing, and debating which one to keep/use/sell.

if it isn’t worth much I might toss in the PTO unit Incase I ever wanted to use it in some fashion.
