I won't be buying the new generations of diesels. those scrubbers they are putting on these trucks cost way too much to replace, on top of that the additional costs for everything they are adding to these trucks, just doesnt make owning one of them worth while. i'm going to grab an 06 leftover if anything, i think they are doing good with the recent ones.

Not I. I'll wait a few years to see how the whole Diesel thing goes.
With new low sulfur fuel, more emmisions and the rummored price of the Diesel option going way up. I'll sit on the sidelines for a few years.
No rush to go out and trade my current SD in just to keep up with the Jones'.

I have just bought an 06 6.0 so it will be a couple years before I'm truck shopping again.(i hope) But if I had my choice I would buy my 7.3 back.

Just curious, but why? I know the 7.3 is a hell of an engine, but I like the 6.0 better. I am just curious if you are having any problems with yours, or if there are any other reasons why you like the 7.3 better?

I just liked the truck in general better. It had 205,000 mi. on it when I sold it and the only problems I had was the crank sensor and a water pump. The truck was a 2001 c.c. lariat with 6 spd manual and carpet delete. The only one I have seen like that. It got worked hard every day and never stopped. Don't get me wrong I like the 6.0 so far, I just hope I have the same luck as my last one.

Me too.....

I wasn't far from trading on an '03 or an '04, but when I saw and read about the issues they were having, I chose not to. I thought about an '05, but since I had another few months left on my loan, I again decided not to. If mine were ever wrecked, I'd stick to the 7.3 unless the 6.4 proves itself and they offer me an extensive warranty and maintenance package if I have any issues with it. Other than that, I'll keep my 7.3 and thank my lucky stars I own one.

Not me...
Last July I was looking at new trucks and decided after hearing about the problems with the 6.0's (the one at work trashed a turbo as well) looked into a late 7.3..
Ended up with a 2003 CC Lariat with the 7.3 and only 21K mi on it....like new and probably saved at least $10-15K...
Love the truck......

Thumbs up

I order an 07 Harly I think the bugs are out of the 6.0 I have an 05 King Ranch motors ok less 3 turbo but having power trane problems transfer case, trans ect.
6.4 is tempting you never have to much torque but you always have to many problems. the new body style has not impressed me.

Yea, I'll buy one, as soon as they offer me a 10 year 200,000 mile warranty and buy back my 04 Excursion 6.0

An extensive warranty would definately encourage more buyers, but they'd probably lose too much money if they had some serious teething problems.

for the money we spend on these trucks, their warrenty really sucks.
i'm sure there is plenty of money worked into the cost of these trucks to cover a lot of repairs.
just look at how much higher the cost of a new truck is, compared to say, ten years ago.
