I have a 1978 f150 4x4, and im going to have to get new tires over summer and im going to get 31x10.50x15, but i need all terrain tires that are cheap as im in high school and dont have a lot of cash flow and i need them to have pretty good life as well too cause im going to be doing a lot of highway driving but offroad sometimes. All opinions are appreciated, and i thank everyone who leaves them.
The Wild Country I got in that size were fairly decent off-road as long as I did not get into GA clay mud. I guess they call them "Wild Country® Radial RVT" now.
Go with Pro-Comps! They have a 50K pro-rated, no questions asked warranty, super long treadlife, great traction, low road noise and they are way beefier than BFG's. And they are a whole lot cheaper! Look at 4 Wheel Parts, they usually have a buy 3 get 1 free deal every couple of weeks.
They are a decent tire too. Another one to consider is the Nitto TerraGrappler.
Are pro-Comp and Nitto in that comparison on tirerack.com?
For the criteria you gave I think the Pro-Comps or the Nitto would work out nicely. How do the Bridgstone's compare pricewise?
no pro-comp and nitto arnt on the tirerack comparison. The Bridgstones for 31x10.50x15 are around $138 a tire. I thought about the geolanders cause of how cheap they are but, i dont know, i really want a tire that will last a while and everything. Right now im torn between the geolander, bridgestone, and BFGoodrich. Bridgestone is the most expensive out of them, but they have better stats.
I'd be willing to bet the Pro-Comps would outlast the BFG's. Similar tread pattern but the Pro-Comps are a lot beefier and a little harder compound. And they are the only ones you can find for Buy 3 get 1 free, so the overall price would be less.
Check out the Nitto's, there are a lot of guys in the F-150 forum that are really happy with them, and they are probably the least expensive out of all of these.
The Geolanders aren't really in the same catagory. They are called an A/T, but they seem like more of a road tire with light A/T capability.
THe REVO is worth the money very QuietNice smoth ride and they can handle just about any thing you throw at them very good in the snow and on the ice great for a daily driver turned mud for the weekend! A very good tire
Geolander At's do a great job on road and offroad i bought a set for my Dad's Ranger and have taken it trail running and it did everything i needed it to do in Rocks, Dirt and mud not deep mud since it is a stock 01 4x4 Ranger. Plus it is a 10 ply tire so it should last a long time for you.
