How Low From Jag XJ6 IFS?

I am seriously thinking about using a Jag front suspension. I have a 55' F100, and I was wondering how much using a stock XJ6 subframe will lower my truck. Also does anyone know how hard/pricey it is to lower it more if I need to? I want the center of my fender to be about 24" from the ground, and have come to realize that isnt practical with the straight axle.
Thanks
-Mike-

For a jag installation in a 55 take a look at this website:

uk-hotrods.co.uk.garage_scene_stuff

Also look at the gallery for 55 F-100 paul

Hey there 49,

I have read all the info already posted or linked to the install that I could find. There was a great amount of useful info, and am confident I can do the swap. The couple things I couldnt find were the things mentioned above. I still need to know atleast about how much it will drop, and if there is any way I can drop it more. And most of the pictures I saw didnt have the front fenders on the truck so it was hard for me to visualize =(
Thanks
-Mike-

I'll be doing the jag front end on my 48 f1. I remember reading that it lowers an f1 about 5", but I don't remember where I read it. Right now the whole thing is sitting on a pallet in front of the garage, I'll take some measurements tomorow amd post them.

Mike, I do not have the nose on my 49 so I can not show you. What I can tell you is that with the bare cab (no doors) and a SBC and AOD only on the chassis the bottom of my frame rail at the very front is 12 inches off the floor. I would expect it to come down a maximum of a 1 to 2 inches with a fully assembled truck. I did not want the truck much lower since getting the rear much lower than I have it would start to cost $ and I do not want a strong rake to the truck. To further lower the jag the choices are either to get a pair of shorter/softer coil springs from a spring shop or cut up into the bottom of the frame rails like the guys do to install a Volare front end and weld in the jag crossmember.

I don,t know about a jag, but a MII with dropped spindles will put you right where you want to be.

MIke, the center of the axle is about 2" below the mounting points on the subframe, including rubber mounts, with no weight on it. Willards estimate of a 2' drop installed would put the axle even with the mounting points. Half of your front tire heightwill give you your axle height. Check the website that willard posted, good info there.

Thanks for your measurements. I want mine dropped like yours B/B, your truck is pretty much like this :
I cant afford a MII and dont feel as comfortable istalling that on my truck. But I did find another truck with a MII already installed, and I might purchase it.

Either way, I like the Jag setup better.
Thanks Guys
