Post my project ford

I am new to this site and am working on my first project truck. I am doing a conversion from a 3spd on the column to 3 on the floor. any and all suggestions I can get would be greatly apreciated. the floor pan on my 1974 ford f-100 is a solid unit and doesn't come apart from the rest of the body. In short, I am not sure how to go about cutting a hole in the floor to match the shifter up to the transmission and still have clearance to hit all of the gears and not have the shifter hit the seat when I put it into 3rd gear.
