Forged 460 Crankshaft
Has anyone heard on Hawk's racing 460 forged crankshafts? They are going on ebay for 650 dollars. Thats half the price of scat or crower. They claim to be made by the same mfg as scat also. Anyone used or know anyone that has used one?? They also claim 1300+hp rating. Is this too good to be true?

Scat does not yet have their forged crank available, unless you're referring to their billet crank which is a whole 'nother beast in a class of its own. All the current forged cranks for the 460 are coming from the same manufacturer but they do not all use the same place for the machining and finishing. I've read over on the 460 forum that the Hawk's racing cranks are tougher to balance and the tolerances are not as accurate as the cranks being sold through AD Performance. HOWEVER AD Performance has had their forged cranks backordered for what seems like an eternity (at least in the 4.5, not sure about the 4.3). I've been waiting on mine a couple months now. If I can't get it soon I may go with the Hawk's crank and just bank on the fact that the money I save on that crank will go to extra machining and balancing.
Yes, they are good to 1200-1300hp.

How long do you think that they would last on the street, I am not planning on going to the track much, because the car has no rollcage or anything so im looking at one chance to run down the track and they are going to kick my *** out of there. The motor should run about 700-800hp @ about 6500. further down the road when the money turns up I will do more to the car. Tub/Cage.

There's no reason a forged crank should last for any less time on the street than a stock cast crank. It's a stronger setup to begin with. Overall life will have much more to do with how the rest of the engine is built and how hard you beat on it. The crank will be the last concern here. My build will spend a fair amount of time on the street.
Btw, I talked to AD again today and he's still got no ETA on the crank I ordered so I'm getting a refund. I may try going with the Hawk's crank . . . I'll know by next week. If I do go that route I'll post up and let you know how it goes.
