Question Tires for 18" rims

I just bought an '06 F-250 FX4 with the camper package and the 18" rims. I would like to get rid of the tires that it came with and go with something more aggressive. Will the 35x12.5x18 BF Goodrich AT's or the Nitto Terra Grappler 325/60/18's fit the 8.5" rim that I have. Also, would there be any rubbing?

Thanks

Both would fit the stock rim and there are several trucks running them with no rubbing issues. Check the SuperDuty forum and run a search. Ther are a lot of good pics.

Where did you find the pictures of 18" tires in the Super Duty forum?

I'm not sure on the 06 but I have a 99' and 35" will rub when you turn hard and hit a bumb, but maybe the 06 has more clearence up front. I would say get rid of the 18 rims and get a set of 16.5. Tires will be cheaper than that for a 18"rim and if you do any off roading the smaller rim will be a lot better.

First things first, the 05 and 06 trucks can not step down to smaller wheels because of the larger brake calipers. Some can go down to the 17" but I have read of some trucks having problems with some of those. As far as the wider tires on stock wheels, do a search and you will find setups with 325x60x18, 325x65x18 and 35x12.5x18 all on stock rims without lift and some with 2.5 lift (but only on the newer 05 and 06 trucks).

Problem is the tire manufactures all recommend 9"+ rims for the sizes you just listed.

Yes there are people running those tires on stock 8" rims and not having any problems. Probably the same folks running "D" Rated tires in place of E range tires.

If you are packing a load and want to stay with in specs with "E" rated tires, then you need wider rims or stay with the standard tire size.
