Smile 292 cam bearings question

I am now very curious (George?), about the difference between cross-drilled verses groved bearings. What exactly is the difference?

Thanks again in advance.

theres not a lot of difference.the holes in the bearings are different shapes and sizes.you need to use the bearings that match your cam.54 and 55 cam were cross drilled.

312, I could go to some old and dusty books to try and find the answer
but unless the journal is grooved, crossdrilled bearings would only
oil whatever the unfed hole lubricates when it indexes with a hole
drilled thru the journal. A grooved bearing would lubricate all the time.
Can you shed so light on this?
