tranny swap
restoring my 67 ranger w/352 (not to original specs, but to fit my needs)has 3spd column shift and i hate it!! wishing to modify to an automatic(w/OD if poss). i want to keep my floorboard hump clear for other mods instead of having a big shifter right in the middle of it. its a good place for a custom console. my big question is "can i use the same steering column and have correct auto shifting". seems if the linkage has enough "travel" it would shift right.? also want to replace the old worn and "playful" manual steering gearbox with a power steering gearbox and reservoir. any ideas on what later ford models' ps assbly will fit this truck? something else "was" mounted on the front of eng block up high & i'm assuming it was a ps pump. so maybe this isn't the orig.352.....also what's a good HD auto tranny that will bolt up to this engine with no problems?thanx, rog
