i need to bring the doors "in" a little as i get a lot of wind noise. i do have rubber around the outer doors but it seems as though they dont seal when closed
the lower part of the door is fine, its fron the door handle up that needs to come in. do the hinges adjust in as well as up and down? am i making any sense? thanks for any input.
Wiseguy,
I don't have my manual in front of me, but I thing the hinge bolts can be loosened and the hinge moved inward on the A pillar. If memory serves, there is a third bolt deep inside the hinge that also must be loosened to make this adjustment.
If no one else jumps in here to verify, I will check my manual and take a look at my hinges tonight.
A Shop Manual would be an excellent investment. It outlines every way that the door can be adjusted, including the bending that FF56 is talking about. I would try the hinge adjustment that fatfords mentioned first. If that isn't enough, bend it.
Motorhaven sells the manuals and they can be had on ebay.
The hinge really won't move, you're pretty much stuck bending. When I was making my 56 doors fit, I was surprised how little bending it took to make them fit great.
LOL.... I know this method makes sense to truck owners and I've done it before, but how do you explain to someone that your door doesn't align correctly so, "I bent it"? Too bad the hood, fenders and everything else doesn't work this way....
Just saw this post, could you tell me how to bend the door?
Brace your knees just below the window, grab the top with your hands, and pull!!
When I was a kid we had this little guy bodyman that had worked the MACK truck assembly line - he was like a monkey climbing around the cab and "adjusting" the doors.
The first time I tried it the dang door folded like it was made of cardboard - made my boss so mad he took the price of a used door out of my pay check - and he only paid me $10 a week to clean parts after school!
