Thumbs up Sat. Oil Change W/ Chevron Supreme!

Fellow Oil Gurus. I had a leisure Saturday @ noon oil change today. 1987 Aerostar van, 3.0 V6. Have you ever noticed when you "vent" the engine, the oil flows out, much better? By this I mean having the Aerostar up on car ramps. Oil cap off. Drain bolt off of the oil pan. Once I remove the oil filter, it seems the remaining oil then begins to flow much faster / easier. Some people tighten up the drain bolt. THEN remove the old oil filter. I feel some old oil stays in the engine when it could easily be removed. If time is a factor for your oil change, I understand. It won't hurt anything, with the residiual old oil remaining...
Today, I am running a new Motorcraft FL400s Oil Filter. 4 1/4 quarts of CHEVRON SUPREME 5w30 Motor Oil. API Service: "SM" I like Chevron Supreme. Later this afternoon, I had the Aerostar (after a nice wash. A common practice after anytime I change oil ) out on the Freeway, Interstate 5 in Sacramento. Looking to the right, at Arco Arena. Where the Sacramento Kings play basketball. My goodness, 65 - 70 MPH, the old Aerostar van ran flawlessly! Smooth, effortless power. Foot hardly toughing the gas pedal. All thanks to the 3.0 V6's approval of clean, fresh, pristine, golden Chevron Motor Oil, 5W30! Can I get an "Amen!" on this fine lubricant?
Here's another benefit from the blue plastic bottles, housing the 5w30 liquid gold. This Chevron Supreme Oil was packaged on March 20, 2006. So, LESS than a month, from the Benica, California refinery, it's working to protect the moving parts in my Aerostar's 3.0 V6 FoMoCo stud motor. I like this fact! Chevron Supreme is a great product, quality dino oil, for a very fair price. Agree? Disagree? ED

Wow, I have never seen anyone get excited to that degree over a good product. It will be okay Ed, and if you do work for Chevron, thats okay too, I like Chevron they throw a good bit of work my way.

Hey Ed, I hope you are right because I have six cases of the stuff that I bought for 49 cents a quart after rebate. I've never used Chevron before, but for that price I couldn't pass it up.

Chevron makes some fine oils literally, and it will save you gas too.

Amen brother Ed! But Chevron's bay area refinery is in Richmond. Benica is home to EXXON!

Thanks everyone! Well, maybe I was a little too happy concerning my Chevron Supreme oil change! LOL. Scott, I stand corrected on my Benica, CA refinery post. I wasn't sure, but I thought I might be right. It goes to show you though, I do not work for Chevron. Otherwise, a Chevron employee would have known this. Monoman, what a great deal for Chevron quality oil after the rebate! ED

PS I use Chevron ATF in my Ford A4LD transmission. I change the fluid and filter (screen) once every 3-4 years, regardless of mileage. At 146K, the trans has never been apart or rebuilt, thanks to the Chevron ATF = (Burgundy Red Liquid Shift Magic). I like it when I feel the transmission in the Aerostar shift into OD, and then at or around 70 MPH has the 3.0V6 running, like a well rehearsed 75 piece classic symphany orchestra! That's what I'm talking about! LOL - Ed/

Chevron is a fine oil but these days you have a lot of good dino choises for 3K intravals. My question is what are you paying per quart?

You sure you have a 3.0 V6? I thought the early Aerostars came with the 2.9 V6.

Thumbs up More Usage for Chevron Supreme Oil, Today!

------------------------------------
Osin86, I paid $1.49 a quart for the Chevron Supreme 5w30. Today, I changed the oil in my 6.5 HP Briggs & Stratton lawnmower, replacing last season's Mobil 1 oil, with this season's Chevron Supreme 10w30. I have no doubt, the air cooled B&S powerplant will like the "liquid gold", better known as Chevron Supreme!

Also, for what it's worth. I noticed the Chevron 10w30 "SM" oil I just put in the lawnmower this afternoon, looked slightly a darker golden color, as compared to the API "SM" 5w30 I just put in my van last week.

HAPPY EASTER, everyone. Enjoy the Holiday weekend, with your Family and Friends... Ed

PS Since I like Chevron Supreme Oil, I have decided to change my oil in my Aerostar van at this interval: ("OCI") '3 Weeks or 30 Hours of 3.0 V6 Engine Useage @ Full Warmed Operating Temperatures'. Whatever occurs first. Then a complete oil change, with new, clean, fresh, pristine and pure Chevron Supreme 5W30 + a new Motorcraft Fl 400s or WIX 51516 Oil Filter. I feel many of you will like this new oil change interval, and even adapt it for your own personal car, pickup truck, or Van.

I pay from .049-1.80 a quart 3k is just a waste of this fine oil. I run it to 7500 miles in my tacoma and 6,000 miles in my 03 ford. The uoa's come back perfect and the tops of the cylinder heads are spotless.

With all the fuss about SM lubes in flat tappet engines, I wonder if it's a good idea to use them in power equiptmet????

I've switched all my air cooled engines over to straight 30 weight & cut oil consumption by about half & the engines are much quieter & the spark plugs are much cleaner!!!!

Any thoughts on using SM oil in flat tappet small air cooled engines????

How about straight weight verses multi-vis, in hot running air cooled engines????

$1.50 isn't too bad. Anymore then that, like some other colored bottles and I'd say your wasting money but I'm glad to hear the "gold" is at a good price.

I'm going to have to stay a non-believer on the 7500 mile interval. It is still just dino oil and it will break down. I would love to have my mind changed though so please post a UOA if you have one.
