Oil Leak Question

Oil Leak Question
I have a 2002 4x4 SC LB 7.3 69,000 miles and have noticed an annoying leak for the last few months. At first I thought it was a bad oil drainplug washer, but I was checking out my engine today and noticed a pool of fluid collecting under the turbo. Does anyone know what this could be, and if you know what it is, would it fall under warranty repairs? Thanks for the help.

There has been several post lately addressing that problem. It could be from your turbo pedastal o-rings, HPOP, if its only a drop or two after parking I would check the intake boots. If they are loose and you haven't done the CCV mod it may be leaking a little around them. You can tighten them up if loose.

I would think at 69K it would be covered under warranty.

It could fall under warranty - but Ford is getting pretty picky - if you've got any mods at ALL they could/might deny your warranty! i speak from experience!!
Best advice - I would say it's either you turbo/pedistal o-rings (which is what my leak was) or the High Pressure Oil Pump lines. USUALLY a pedistal leak will go right down the back of the motor - but the HPOP leaking will collect in the valley. I'd get some Simple Green, de-gook the motor - and try to track down WHERE the leak is coming from!

do you have any oil sprayed on the downpipe or the PASSENGER side up-pipe or collector? i did, and it was the seal on the actuator rod coming out of the turbo pedestal. the seal would cause engine oil to spray on everything. $900 later it was fixed with a van turbo. i also had leaky pedestal o-rings that made a small puddle of oil in the rear pocket of the valley, and then out the hole at the lowest spot of the valley.
