Anyone Wanting To Buy A 2007 Sport Trac? Info Here!
I recently represented FTE at a Ride and Drive for the 2007 Explorer Sport Trac in Laguna Beach, California. I wrote an article about it and thought some of you may be interested in reading it. It is here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/..._Part_One.html

Thanks for the article! My wife has been thinking of trading in our '02 Sport Trac for an '07.
If you have driven the previous model, any comparisons or comments? Does it feel stable in hard cornering - Sport Tracs used to have one of the highest rollover risks. Any other little annoyances or disappointments?

I wanted to drive a previous model Sport Trac but didn't really have the time to do it. Many of the areas I was on were winding roads. The truck handled it beautifully.
The only really annoyances or quirks I found were the ones I mentioned in the article (plug under the hitch, inside door handle in a weird place).
Overall I believe Ford has an excellent vehicle here. Will fill the "void" that people feel is there from not having a 4 door Ranger. Very capable vehicle.

Do you know if it is built on the Explorer frame? They kinda look alike. Too bad there is no option for a longer bed like a six footer. The 4.6 with a 6 speed auto gives it a tasty appeal to me. But a 4' bed is worthless- might as well have an Explorer- it'll haul more. Looks like a neat toy, but as I see it, that's all it will be-a toy.

I actually like this vehicle, saw one this weekend at a deaership. The left it unlocked. The things that I didn't like.
Door panels, kind of cheap and the pull/bar? handle, is in a horrible postion.
Why no Navi system.
Waste of R"&D on 500 airbags. I hate all htat safety crap though.
Low on power, 300hp, not near enough (needs 400) and at 14 mpg, putting the required blower on...............looking at 11 or so. Damn at these gas prices. Overall tough one of the few new vehilces I can stand.

That thought about a longer bed on the Sport Trac is likeable, but where do you cross the line between that and an F-150 SuperCrew? There is already a really thin line between an Exploder and Expedition unless you look at them really hard these days.
I suppose the bed extender helps somewhat....and toss in a hitch and trailer if you really need to haul *that* much but don' tneed an F-truck.
